John commenced his legal career in 1965 with the firm after graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law. John has been active in many forms of litigation, real estate,
eminent domain, business and estate planning. John is also a trained mediator.
For more than 27 years, John served as attorney for the City of Ottawa. He was attorney for several Unified School Districts. He is authorized to appear in all the courts of Kansas in addition to the U.S. District Court for Kansas, the Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has appeared in more than half of the trial courts in Kansas and argued numerous appeals to the Kansas Court of Appeals, Kansas Supreme Court, and to the Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. He has appeared before many state and federal agencies dealing with subjects involving taxation, environmental concerns, transportation, utilities, roads and highways, and the regulation of pharmacists.
John is a partner in the firm, and a member of the Grievance and Ethics Committee of the Kansas Bar Association which serves as a liaison to the Office of Disciplinary Administrator. John is a Fellow of the Kansas Bar Foundation, a former President of the Administrative Law Section of the Kansas Bar Association, and a member of the Kansas and Franklin County Bar Associations.
He and his wife, Jan, have a son and a daughter.

Jim was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1957. He received his undergraduate degree from Rockhurst College in 1979 and received his law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1982. Jim was an Assistant General Counsel at the Kansas Corporation Commission
from 1982-1985. He joined the firm in 1985 and became a partner in 1990. He is admitted to practice before all court in Kansas, the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Jim is a partner in the firm, and he is a member of the Kansas Bar Association. He is past president of the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section of the Kansas Bar Association. He actively participates in the Kansas Independent Oil & Gas Association and is a member of its Natural Gas Committee. Jim is also involved in the Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission and Federal Energy Bar. He has authored several articles relating to the oil and gas and public utility industry. His primary fields of practice are oil and gas law and public utility law. He typically represents oil and gas producers, intrastate natural gas pipeline companies, natural gas local distribution companies and electric utility companies before the Kansas Corporation Commission.

Dan is active in business and commercial law, litigating civil matters, estate and business planning, oil and gas, real estate, and advocating for creditors in bankruptcy proceedings.
He has experience representing business clients ranging from banks to farms and dairies, and from cities to telephone companies and commercial toy and novelty distributors.
Dan grew up in Kansas, earning his undergraduate degree from Fort Hays State University. He served four years in the U.S. Navy in San Diego before returning to Kansas to graduate from the University of Kansas School of Law. While in law school he served as an intern for the Paul E. Wilson Defender Project. Dan was also a staff member for the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy which published his article on security interests in farm products. Kan. J.L. & Pub. He is a member of the Kansas and Franklin County Bar Associations, and a former President of the latter. Dan is a partner in the firm. He started working at Anderson Byrd as a law clerk in 1998, and began his practice of law the following year. He serves as a Board Member for two non-profit organizations, and is an officer in Kiwanis of Ottawa. He is licensed to practice in all courts in Kansas, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

Scott has been engaged in the practice of law in Franklin County, Kansas, since graduating from Washburn University School of Law in 1985. He began as an associate with the firm, and then spent two years as an Assistant County Attorney in 1993-94. Since his return to the firm in 1995, Scott has concentrated his practice in areas of personal injury, wrongful
death, insurance law, municipal law, banking and commercial litigation.
He is admitted to practice before all courts in Kansas including the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas. Scott is also admitted to practice law in Missouri since 1987. In 1996, Scott was appointed as a magistrate pro-tem and continues to serve in that capacity.
He currently serves on the Fourth Judicial District Nominating Committee which nominates district judges, and he serves as a volunteer on the board for Franklin County Mental Health. As an associate with the firm, Scott has tried cases in all areas of civil and criminal law, focusing on representing plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death actions.
